Where We Live:
Opelousas Neighborhoods
Where We Live: Opelousas Neighborhoods documents and showcases Opelousas neighborhoods through the lens of area residents. The neighborhoods have unique names like The Hill, The Brickyard, and The Oil Mill. We invite youth and adults to take pictures, with their phones, of the area they live in. The photos can be of anything: friends on a porch, a corner store, or a game of basketball in someone’s driveway. The project will magnify the voices of residents through the unique images they choose to share.
All Opelousas residents within the city limits are invited to participate! The Opelousas Museum will also host photography classes that will be available for those who wish to learn techniques such as shooting from different angles, using black and white versus color, and editing.
