SUMMARY:Zydeco Festival Kickoff
DESCRIPTION:Come pass a good time at the Zydeco Festival Pre-Party!\n \nThis is the 42ND Year for the Original SW Zydeco Festival!  We plan to live it up all the way at the Pre-Party at the Opelousas Museum.  The reception will include refreshments, and good times with fans of Zydeco music and traditions.\n \nThe reception is in celebration of the 42ND Annual Original Southwest Louisiana Zydeco Festival which takes place August 31 at the Yambalee Festival Grounds. \n \nThe Treasures of Opelousas, a group of concerned citizens, feared that Zydeco and Creole music were dying; in response, they organized the first festival. With the guidance and sponsorship from the Southern Development Foundation, the first Zydeco Festival in 1982 was started in a bean field in Plaisance, Louisiana on the outskirts of Opelousas.\n \nFMI: 337- 290-6048; lenafcharles@bellsouth.net ( mailto:lenafcharles@bellsouth.net )\n
